What You've said
Hi there,
Great site.I am wondering if it is just me or my age, or folk in
general who are getting more interested in politics. Seems to me that
people in general are getting more involved because of the incompetent
groups who are meant to be progressing societies as a whole. However it
isn't happening and this is forcing people to get involved. Your site
is one of the great resources people need to access easily.Keep it
alive!
Dear comrades,I would like to thank you for a fantastic and
informative site which has given me many hours of thought listening to
the mp3s of the various meetings it contains.Just to let you know, in
the new section which you have just posted, containing Brenner and
Harmans speeches on the origins of capitalism, both links appear to be
faulty. Instead of the speeches both links lead to the summing up! Have
really enjoyed the Callinicos/Brenner debate and am about to listen to
the other lecture. Any chance of posting more of the meetings from
Marxism 2004, as I spent much of the week campaigning in Leicster for
Respect and missed most of the meetings? Keep up the excellent
work.Peter
Help like this is invaluable. Thanks very much for
letting me know and please never be afraid to criticize the site. The
links and now corrected.>
Hi there, I'm from the IS in Canada , and I've been addicted to the
talks on the site since maybe ten months ago when I found it. They've
proven crucial in helping me clarify my own understanding of Marxism,
socialism, etc. and its even improved my own public speaking. I have a
collection of talks by many speakers, including Michael Parenti, Alex
Callinicos at Prague 2001, Alex Cockburn, George Galloway in Toronto ,
Greg Palast, Ralph Nader, Robert Fisk, Tariq Ali and other prominent
leftists (although obviously not all socialists). I also have collected
many of Mark Steel's BBC programs, and most of Jeremy Hardy's. If you
were interested, I could burn them onto a CD and toss them across the
pond. If you are looking to expand your archive (both in size and
topics covered), there are talks of excellent sound quality available
from our annual Marxism conference in Toronto . A list of the talks for
2004 and 2003 are available here: http://www.web.net/sworker/cdorderm2k4%20.pdf and http://www.web.net/sworker/cdorder.pdf Comradely, Doug
Thanks very much for your comments. Anybody who wants to
send me some files can do so to; ResistanceMP3@yahoo.co.uk if under
about 50mb, or ResistanceMP3 website c/o Bookmarks 1 Bloomsbury Street,
London WC1B 3QE. When I work out how to do it, I will try to create a
upload area for those that want to upload files over the internet. I
will then add them to the web site.
Great site. But I have a little problem on the "science, religion,
drugs"-page. When I try to listen to "Is nature written in our genes"
it starts playing "are scientists playing god with our genes". I think
there's something wrong with that link. Other than that, I think the
site is great, and really useful for preparing discussions and
speeches. Thanks a lot, Marije Amsterdam
Thanks very much, help like this really improves the site. My mistake has now been corrected. ResistanceMP3
Thank you very much for your contributions. This is an incredible
site with a vast amount of knowledge from some of my favorite scholars.
I will do my best to spread the word about the site. Thank u, Taylor
Somerville.
Hello, Thanks for this great site. The downloads work well and you
have a good range. Just the kind of thing I was looking for. i hope you
keep it up. Will , Japan
Hello, I just wanted to let you know that I think that your site is
a great resource for knowledge. Keep up the good work! Joshua
Dear sir/madame I've visited your excellent site and listened to a
lot of the sound files (thank you for making them available). Though I
miss the file that sounds the most interesting: MICHAEL MOORE -
Censorship at Waterloo - 2002-03-25 - NY 9 11 911 Sept Coverup WTC -
(55.35) (TEC@NZ) 55 minutes Is it available or is it lost to the
"cyberspace" : )? Regards: CJ Akerberg
I really appreciate feedback like this. I will correct this
omission. If I remember correctly it repeats the stuff about attempts
to spike his book, and the Bin Laden family flight from U.S. cover up.
Hello Web Master, I just wanted to write a note to thank you for the
socialist and reform speech archive. I only recently discovered it, and
I am looking forward to listening to these hard to find authors. I look
forward to the mentioned speeches on terrorism / fascism as well.
Mathew
Dear comrades,I live in Bulgaria and came across your site a few
months ago. Since then I have downloaded a number files which I found
quite useful for someone like me from Eastern Europe . There are
between 5 to 10 Stalinist parties in my country and people still
associate socialism with totalitarianism which is quite paralyzing for
the working class activity. Being against any kind of intellectual
opium for the people, I think that the following files from your back
list can be useful for me and so I'd like to ask you to upload them as
soon as you find sufficient space: 250 Callinicos, Alex Marxism and
religion, 149 Sparks , Colin Origins of christianity.Fraternal
greetings from Bulgaria , Radostin
Requests most welcome
Good work, folks, thank you for making these sound files available.
I collect similar files, and you're welcome to upload anything I have.
Dear Comrades Email me whats not online, pleeze.I run a tiny
socialist Client/Server system and want to put all your speeches on.
Regards Christopher
Thanks, I have had some good donations of webspace. The more I get, the more I put up.
Hi, I am from the Australian ISO and I have found the MP3s of
tremendous benefit. I have proposed to our organisation that we prepare
CDs based upon these MP3s to sell and distribute for fundraising
activities as well as developing our intellectual cadre. Thanks for
putting these up. My only request is that you put up as many more MP3s
as possible, particularly those with good sound quality so that we can
put these onto CDs. Thanks again. Regards David
Thanks
Dear Comrades, We just found the homepage. What a wonderful idea. We
would like to enable lots of german comrades to hear, what a Generation
of the best marxist said to the world... Thats why we would like to
request some of the wonderful tapes. Here are the numbers: 92, 271, 11,
5, 322, 293, 198, 30, 290, 414, 40, 142, 258, 36, 70, 143, 93, 148,
Thanks a lot in advance. Florian
Sorry Florian, I should have made it clearer on the web page. Could
you please give me the title you want as well as the catalogue number?
I've just visited the resistance mp3 site and wanted to drop you a
note saying how good it is - it's a really useful idea. There are two
meetings that were excellent that I have the tapes of that I think
would be good for people (1999 I think) Julie Waterson on Peodophilia,
which was brilliant - and Pat Stack on disability, which was really
funny. If you would like them let me know how you'd like to receive them
and I'll do my best. The other thing is the site could do with sections
or something to break up the list - otherwise its a bit overwhelming.
If I want something on, say, african history, I'd have to wade through
and if its possible a way of looking it up would be good. Also
everything is starred! Probably a better way would be to have the
newsest ten in a different list and a recomended 'course' like they do
a Marxism - but with the advantage that it can span the different
years. Feel free to ignor my suggestions. Anyway, congratulations on
the site - yours fraternally, Jim (Colchestrer SWP)
Thanks, I really appreciate your comments. Is there any
chance you could record them to MP3, And then either e-mail them to me
or burn them to CD and put it in the post? Or even better, up load them
to the free web space your ISP Provides, then e-mail me the links. It
tells you how to do all this for free on the web resistancemp3 " create
yours" tab.
Hi My name is Kane I am with Socialist Worker Aotearoa. Kia
ora. I love the Resistance sight. We have a very ugly tradition
of anti-learning in NZ. Lots of our recruits have this reading allergy.
You probably know the story "I don't learn from reading blah, blah". I
have found the MPs a worth while way of introducing ideas to comrades.
We have some conferences etc coming up and I thought it would be cool
to have some Marxist CDs to sell. Is there any way to transform MPs
into ordinary sound files to burn onto a CD? What soft ware do I need
etc. Looking forward to your reply -. Kane Socialist Worker Aotearoa
Click the "create yours" tab at the top of the page. Please let me know if you have any difficulty understanding this page.
Hi comrades, Nice work! Great speeds and a lot of listening
material. Here in Groningen ( Holland ) we really are enjoying the
mp3's. They are giving us good arguments for the discussions.Thanx a
lot! Siebrand de Haan I.S. Groningen
Hi,Great site - I have been listening to them all day and I've learned a lot. Ethan G
Brian: You're asking for web space. I can deliver 60 MB. It's available on my university account:
Any more with web space please?
Thank you comrade for this site.I have broadband. If I can help you in any way let me know. Dave G
Web space please.
Wow, Incredible site! ^^v;; Thank you very much. Kim
Thank you very much comrades for this great ressource of spoken
revolutionary theory. You must be investing a lot of time and nerves -
but it is fully woth it. Francis, Cologne , Germany
Comrades, a brilliant resource. We must let comrades, especially
international groups, more about this. It is an absolute treasure
trove. Great work and thanks. Peter
excellent site easier than tapes which i always lose - Penny
Hi comrade, I saw your website a few weeks ago - and I am really
impressed. I am a member of the International Socialists in Denmark ,
and I have for a long time wondered if "someone" would make a project
like this. It seemed such a waste if many of these great speeches
should be lost, when instead they should be used to learn from.
Now a question: I see that you have a MEGA list of "On Request"
titles. I would be very grateful if it was possible to download the
full list. So I wonder if you have an FTP - or if you have to upload
them to Geocities one by one? As soon as I get these titles downloaded
I want to distribute them on CDs to the local branches of IS-Denmark -
I know there are quite a few younger comrades who want to learn, but
have slow and expensive Internet connections. Thanks again for your
great work! Frats, Jorn
Thanks a lot comrade, For some time now I had been thinking that
it's about time someone makes this move too i.e. Marxism tapes in the
internet. A valuable really contribution to socialists all over the
world! in comradeship Phaedon (Workers Democracy, Cyprus )
Well I'm glad you gave me the url - I'll definitely be keeping that in my favourites, it looks like a great site.
Catherine helped with accessibility for people with impairments;
The only thing I'd say about the accessibility - it would help
people with screen-readers if you made the whole titles links rather
than part of them. So for example instead of "create yours" with only
"create" as the link have "create yours" as the link; have "bloody
sunday" instead of "sunday"; have "cracking up or cracking down"
instead of "cracking". Hope that helps... Catherine
Mathew helped construct the site;
The concept is great and the list of meetings is really interesting.
The main point of a web site is to do something well and you have the
beginning of a great resource that socialists will find useful around
the world. Mathew
Dave helped with accessibility for people with impairments;
It looks great; no accessibility problems as far as I can see, Dave
